Why PUCCS

What You Get With DuROCK PUCCS

Real Insulation Value

R-5 to R-22 continuous EPS insulation eliminates thermal bridging through studs — something interior insulation cannot achieve.

Drainage Cavity (GDDC)

The 10mm deep Geometrically Defined Drainage Cavity channels water down and out — eliminating the trapped moisture that destroys traditional EIFS.

Code Compliant

DuROCK PUCCS meets OBC, NBC, and ASHRAE 90.1 requirements. Accepted by major insurance carriers and mortgage lenders across Ontario.

Works on Any Substrate

New construction wood frame, steel stud, masonry, concrete, and ICF. PUCCS also retrofits over existing stucco without full tear-off.

Unlimited Design Options

Hundreds of colours and textures — sand, dash, stone, smooth, rustic — at no premium. The finish coat is where your vision becomes the building.

Low Maintenance

Acrylic and silicone finish coats resist cracking, fading, and mould. Minimal maintenance compared to wood, vinyl, or painted stucco.

System Variants

PUCCS for Every Project Type

We recommend the right PUCCS variant after assessing your substrate, project type, and insulation requirements.

How We Install

The Installation Process

01

Site Assessment & Design

We assess the existing substrate, measure the building, and work with you on insulation value, colours, and texture. Substrate compatibility is confirmed before quoting.

02

Detailed Quote

Fixed price with full material and labour breakdown. We specify the PUCCS variant, EPS thickness (R-value), mesh weight, and finish product.

03

Substrate Prep

Existing cladding is inspected or removed as required. Weather-resistant barrier (WRB) is installed or verified. Trim and transition details are mapped out.

04

EPS Panel Installation

DuROCK PUCCS panels are adhered and mechanically fastened per engineering specs. Panels are cut and fitted around windows, doors, and penetrations.

05

Base Coat & Mesh

Fibreglass reinforcing mesh is embedded in DuROCK base coat. All corners and edges receive additional reinforcement.

06

Finish Coat

Selected finish coat is applied in the specified texture. Colour consistency is maintained across the full elevation.

07

Caulking & Trim

Sealant is applied at all transitions, windows, doors, and penetrations. Trim details are finished.

08

Final Inspection

We walk every elevation with you. Deficiencies are corrected before the job is closed.

FAQ

EIFS Questions Answered

What is EIFS and how is it different from traditional stucco?
EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) is a multi-layer cladding system that includes rigid foam insulation as a core component. Traditional 3-coat stucco is applied directly to the substrate with no insulation layer. EIFS provides continuous thermal insulation, better crack resistance, and a lighter cladding weight. The DuROCK PUCCS system adds a drainage cavity not found in early EIFS generations.
Will EIFS increase my home's energy efficiency?
Yes, measurably. Continuous exterior insulation eliminates thermal bridging through studs — a major source of heat loss that interior insulation cannot address. Depending on your existing insulation and EPS thickness chosen, you can expect a noticeable reduction in heating and cooling costs.
Is DuROCK PUCCS accepted by Ontario building codes?
Yes. DuROCK PUCCS is compliant with OBC Part 9 (residential) and Part 3 (commercial/mid-rise), NBC, and ASHRAE 90.1. It carries Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) evaluation. Major insurance carriers and mortgage lenders in Ontario accept it.
Can EIFS be installed over my existing stucco?
In many cases, yes. The existing stucco must be structurally sound — no hollow sections, active moisture intrusion, or delamination. We assess the existing surface before quoting. If the existing cladding is compromised, it will need to be removed first.
How long does EIFS installation take?
A typical single-family home takes 2–4 weeks depending on size and complexity. Commercial projects vary by scope. Weather is a factor — finish coats cannot be applied in freezing temperatures or heavy rain.
What maintenance does EIFS require?
Minimal. Inspect caulking and sealants at windows and penetrations every 5–7 years. Wash the surface with low-pressure water as needed. Avoid high-pressure washing directly at joints. The EPS and finish coat themselves are not a maintenance item under normal conditions.
